10th January 2004 - Starting line up for the inaugural Saturday afternoon ride to Filkins

Who are we?

We are a local group of the CTC. We range in age from 14 to 70+ and as you can see we’re not a racing team but we do like to get a few miles in. We ride all manner of machines: mountain bikes, hybrids, tourers, racers, even a tricycle. We are prepared to go out in all weathers but like most people we prefer to be out when the sun is shining.

What is the CTC?

The Cyclists’ Touring Club is Britain’s national cycling organisation. The CTC works to safeguard cyclists’ interests and to promote cycling for leisure and as a means of transport. For further information about the CTC visit www.ctc.org.uk

Riding with us

• You don't need to be a member to ride with us the first couple of times, but if you enjoy it and would like to continue you will need to join the CTC.
• Even if you believe you’ll be home before dark we recommend that you have working lights on your bike. An unforeseen delay could leave you unseen and unable to see.
• Please ensure your bike is roadworthy and carry a pump, a puncture repair kit and a spare inner tube.
• Carry a drink to prevent dehydration and a snack lest you run out of oomph (Jaffa Cakes work for me).
• Never trust a weather forecast - be prepared for a change in the elements.

CYCLISTS MAY INCUR LIABILITY TO THE PUBLIC OR TO FELLOW CYCLISTS IF THROUGH THEIR NEGLIGENCE THEY CAUSE INJURY, DAMAGE OR LOSS. MEMBERS OF THE CTC ARE AUTOMATICALLY COVERED FOR SUCH CONTINGENCIES UNDER THE CLUB’S BLOCK THIRD PARTY / PUBLIC LIABILITY POLICY. CYCLISTS WHO JOIN RIDES ORGANISED BY THE WEST OXON SECTION WHO ARE NOT MEMBERS OF THE CTC ARE ENCOURAGED TO JOIN OR TO TAKE OUT THIRD PARTY / PUBLIC LIABILITY COVER IF NOT INSURED ELSEWHERE.
